Steve Jobs Stanford Commencement Speech 2005
I'm retarded as usual and only found this recently. Great speech tho. Wish I found it earlier.

A different perspective..
Read recently on the internet: "How to tell if you are really in love?". It says, don't ask what the definition of love is, or if you are in love. Only ask yourself if the love you are RECEIVING is the love that you want. If you are NOT RECEIVING love from him/her now, then you deserve better. We're talking about NOW, not the past or what you hope will be.
Maybe its just where I am emotionally right now in life but this makes a lot of sense.

Listen to your gut
Was twittering recently when I noticed an old old flame had added me. Went to check out how things were with him. At first it seemed like he was a changed dude (I mean its at least been a decade right..) but then I realised that things were still the same old. It made me think that sometimes you dun end up with a person for a reason. Maybe you couldn't articulate it at that point in time but if it doesn't feel right, don't do it. The song says "Listen to your heart" but I think it should more aptly be "Listen to your gut". I mean sure, there's that small matter that I'm a pig so the gut overrules all other body parts anyway. But food matters aside, time and time again, my gut has proven to be an accurate first analyst of situations. I'm not saying to let your gut do all the thinking, just that if your gut don't feel right, you should pay heed.
Of course, it could also have been caused by the salah nasi lemak you had for lunch.

Prayer for the sick
So, today was supposed to be a happy day, like I mean I bought a sty (and am now in a shitload of debt), boss says he doesn’t think we’re gonna get fired anytime soon (not sure what his definition of soon is), my piano came in this afternoon and actually fits through the lift, front door and doesn’t take up the whole living room (just half).
But then I also found out that this really good family fren just suffered a stroke and is in critical condition…I’m upset cos this dude is really really nice and is always there to pick my parents up from the airport when I’m not around and even picks me up from the airport when my dad is too busy or forgets to come get me (yes, feel the family love yet?). He and his wife buy me pineapple tarts from Malacca and bake me bread n' butter pudding everytime I’m home and now :(
Get well soon. You are much loved.

New diggs!
Ok, so I'm looking at the list of draft posts and I realise I'm a really terrible blogger. Somehow I dun have the diligence nor the eloquence (I dun think snorting counts..?) to give meaningful updates on my life. But perhaps that was also because I was stuck in a rut for a long time and there was nothing to update. I admit, I allowed myself to be put in a rut, but not anymore! (* Maybe one day I'll talk/blog about that whole episode but for now I'm just relieved its over. There's a time and place for everything :))
So fast forward to 7 weeks after crawling out of my rut, shitloads has happened but once again I'm too lazy to jot everything down here when the bed is a-calling. So just a quick announcement here - the Wayward Pig has got her own diggs! Of course, the bank account is a lot poorer and I could be in negative equity this time next year...but for now, I'm feeling like an A-D-U-L-T and damned if I'm not excited/shitting in my pants!

Lessons from diving
Yesterday, after a most disturbing chat on IM, I found myself frantically dialing the phone. No answer. Redial. No answer. Repeat. Panic rising...what should I do? Dial a second number. No answer. Panic full-blown. Redial the first number. Hang up. No, I'm not going to do this to myself. Not again.
I sat down. And I found myself thinking ....about diving.
I used to think that learning how to dive was a useless skill. For starts, I always felt it was really easy! I mean seriously, how hard is it to:
- jump into the water and SINK...you just need to breathe out!
- equalise, ie. pop your ears...you do that all the time when taking a plane or riding to the top of a really high building
- once below the water surface, if you need to rise higher, you just take in a deeper breath or pump air into your BCD
But do you know what's the single most important thing about diving? Its not in the books. Good instructors will tell you, but most people will hear it...then brush it off in the same heartbeat bcos it sounds so common sense!
In diving, you have a tank. The tank is connected to this apparatus with many tubes, called a Regulator. Air is delivered from the tank, through the Regulator, to your mouth. So what's that important thing again???
If you're stuck under a gazillion tonnes of water, no matter what you do, no matter what you wanna do, the one thing you MUST do, is stick the Regulator in your mouth and breathe. See, common sense right? But if you speak to diving instructors the world over, they'll tell you that underwater, people panic and take their Regulators out of their mouth all the time.
And so, as I was about to pick up the phone to redial another number. I decided no. When you feel like you're suffocating under the weight of the world, when you feel like taking another breath is simply too much effort, when you feel your heart pound and the panic rising...why would you throw away your Regulator?
Regulator - the thing that regulates
I picked up my harness and left the office.
